This was the last shot of the day in September at Fall Lake. The clouds were all caught up with the rocks scattered across the glassy lake.
I have decided to start a photo blog of sorts to highlight some of my most favorite photos that I've taken, and will continue to take. I am a bit old school --- The photo should stand on its own without any Photoshop enhancements, adjustments, fixes. A lot of what I see out there now is an altered photo. I believe you should use your eye, the camera equipment and get the shot based upon these skills. I don't always succeed, but I find that when I do? It is so gratifying. Enjoy...

Fall Lake - Rocks
This is one of my favorite shots at Fall Lake, this past September 2012. TK and I were messing around with sunset, and capturing the last rays of sun as it set across the lake. I liked the way the light was bouncing off of the rocks, and the trees seemed to glow just a bit.

Little Miss Sunshine
This photo set was taken at the top of Shovel Point at the North Shore, Minnesoata. It was a long climb, but once we got to the top, there was a really nice cool breeze with beautiful old pines shading the rocks we sat on. The perfect time to capture Miss Sunshine.

Split Rock Lighthouse
The best part of the North Shore, MN is the lighthouse on Split Rock. Mainly because it brings back fond memories of living (temporarily) out in Rhode Island when I was in 5th grade. Lighthouses, to me, evoke feelings of adventures, warmth and safe passage.

Forgotten
This past weekend, TK and I went up to Mom's house and halfway there I realized I had forgotten my camera. I was so disappointed, as was Mom. I managed to take a couple of photos with just the iPhone, which I think turned out pretty good. Of course it isn't as good as if I had the "real" camera, but I tried not to let that get in the way of capturing some pretty flowers.

Flag Iris
Driving out to our favorite place to hike with Annabelle, which we re-named (unbeknownst to the rest of Lakeville) Hilly Farm Park (after our Dalmatian Hillary), TK spotted these beautiful flowers lining the pond on the side of the road. So of course, we had to stop, while I tried to capture its beauty.

Mourning Cloak
On one of our many hikes this spring at Lebanon Regional Park in Eagan, there were about 10-15 Mourning Cloaks all over this tree. It was beautiful, and my patience paid off in capturing this one.

Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park
April 27-29, 2012
This was our first visit to this State Park, and it did not disappoint. It was a very cold/dreary weekend, but it seemed that we managed to find color/interest wherever we traveled that day. It was a good weekend, with a lot of surprises.
- Annabelle saw her first horse up close (an Amish horse). She was quivering from head to tail.
- I had an "haunting" experience at the church.
- The sun did peak through several times, and we quick hiked somewhere to take advantage of the warm beams of light.
- Coffee always tastes better when you are camping.
- We (this is difficult to believe) roasted our first hot dogs over an open campfire.

Silo Abandoned
This photo may look enhanced/edited, however it was just a fun frame on Photoshop. I liked the way it seemed to enhance the abandonment of the silo.

Foggy Lighthouse
This photo was taken in 2004. We had taken a drive up the North Shore for our anniversary. We stopped at a little place before Split Rock State Park. We had walked out onto some rocks which were jutting out a bit into the lake, and all of a sudden, this crazy fog bank rolled towards the lighthouse. The odd thing was it was the middle of a perfectly sunny day --- in July! I quick snapped off a few pictures.
